Professor K.T.M. Udayanga Hemapala has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), following the resignation of Tilak Siyambalapitiya.

Prof. Hemapala, a former Secretary to the Ministry of Energy, previously served as Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Moratuwa.

The appointment was ratified at a CEB board meeting held on 27 May, and officially disclosed in a filing with the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) on 3 June.

Dr. Siyambalapitiya, who had held the post since September 2024, resigned on 11 May.
