Construction work to modernise Hingurakgoda Domestic Airport for international flight operations commenced today (19) under the initiative of the Minister of Ports, Shipping and Aviation Nimal Siripala de Silva.

This runway expansion will occur within the perimeter of the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) Base Hingurakgoda, eliminating the need for additional land acquisition.

Construction is scheduled to be completed in six months by the SLAF.
