Wearing seat belts will be compulsory for all passengers travelling in vehicles on Sri Lanka’s expressways from midnight today (18), Transport Minister Bimal Rathnayake has announced.
The requirement applies to passengers in both front and rear seats. Legal action will be taken against those travelling without seat belts.
Vehicles without seat belts will also not be permitted to enter expressways. Authorities have confirmed that there will be no further extension of the grace period.
