Several people were injured following a collision between a lorry and an ambulance on the Dambulla–Habarana main road in Habarana, police stated.

The lorry driver and his assistant sustained serious injuries and were admitted to the Dambulla General Hospital.

Police noted that the patient in the ambulance, the ambulance driver, and a female staff member were also injured and hospitalised.

Habarana Police stated that preliminary investigations indicate the accident was caused by negligent driving by the lorry driver.
