The Department of Meteorology has issued an Amber advisory for strong winds and rough seas in sea areas from Kalpitiya to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Hambantota.

The Met Department warned of very rough seas with gusty winds reaching 50–60 kmph, while wave heights may increase to 2.0–2.5 metres along coastal areas from Mannar to Pottuvil.

Naval and fishing communities have been advised not to venture into the affected sea areas and to remain attentive to future weather advisories.
