A severe coconut caterpillar outbreak has damaged more than 100 acres of coconut plantations in the Puttalam District, authorities confirmed.

The Coconut Research Institute and the Coconut Cultivation Board have launched measures to control the spread and minimize further losses. 

Farmers have been urged to immediately inform officials if infestations are detected, allowing teams to act swiftly and prevent wider damage.
