Grace period granted for drivers with expired licences amid severe weather

01 Dec 2025 | BY Staff Writer

Police have announced a special grace period for motorists unable to renew their driving licences due to the ongoing severe weather and nationwide disaster situation.

The Department of Motor Traffic has extended relief for licences expiring between 25 November and 25 December, 2025, allowing drivers to continue using them without legal penalty.

The Commissioner of Motor Traffic confirmed that driving with an expired licence during this period will not be treated as a traffic violation.

Accordingly, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) has notified all police stations to take this situation into account when enforcing the law with regard to driving with an expired licence during the grace period.
