President and Minister of Digital Economy, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, chaired a progress review meeting to expedite the Sri Lanka Unique Digital Identity (SLUDI) project.
The discussion focused on identifying challenges and taking policy decisions to accelerate digital development initiatives by institutions, including the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL).
The President emphasised building a solid foundation for digital economy investments.
He also stressed expediting the “Communication to the Village” initiative to install 500 new telecom towers within three years, and ordered immediate steps to resolve delays in issuing National Identity Cards.
