Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath announced steps will be taken to grant voting rights to over Lankans working abroad. 

Speaking at the 40th anniversary of the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) today (27), the Minister said the Ministry of Public Administration has appointed a special committee to establish the necessary legal framework and facilities promptly.

The Minister also noted efforts are underway to introduce a contributory pension system for all Sri Lankans living overseas, with legal procedures being put in place. 

The move acknowledges the significant contribution of the country's expatriate workers.
