The Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team says more than 360 online financial fraud incidents were reported during the past month.
Lead Information Security Engineer Charuka Damunupola said scammers used fake advertisements posing as well-known brands to steal personal and financial information.
Reports included theft of credit card details and the collection of personal data through fraudulent online advertisements.
SLCERT has advised the public to use only official websites for online payments and avoid sharing sensitive information through links received via unsolicited messages.
