Lawyers led by the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) held a protest march today (16) from the Supreme Court (SC) Complex to the BASL Head Office over the recent killing of Attorney Buddhika Mallawaarachchi and his wife. 

All lawyers nationwide also withdrew from court proceedings, causing public inconvenience, and black flags were displayed at court premises as a sign of protest. 

The bodies of the victims are at their residence in Pitigala, with final rites scheduled later today. 

Police have identified four suspects connected to the murder, and investigations continue into the shooting carried out by unidentified gunmen.
