Sri Lanka Police have arrested a suspect transporting 247 kilograms and 946 grams of cannabis in a car as part of an ongoing island-wide anti-drug operation.

According to reports, a 36-year-old suspect from Thimbilla, Sanghathattana, was apprehended near a bridge in Merawala, Chilaw, following intelligence-led operations by the Chilaw Divisional Anti-Vice Unit.

Police discovered 114 parcels of cannabis hidden in the vehicle, believed to be en route from Merawala to Munneswaram.

The suspect’s car was seized, and further investigations are underway by Police.
