A significant increase in road traffic accidents was recorded between 10 and 19 April compared to last year, according to Sri Lanka Police.
DIG W.P.J. Senadeera stated that fatal accidents increased by 18 cases, while deaths rose by 20 during the period.
He also noted rises in major accidents by 94 cases, minor accidents by 49, and property-damage accidents by 48.
Authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution and support efforts to reduce road accidents.
