Sri Lanka urges review of UN human rights mandates

Sri Lanka has urged the United Nations Human Rights Council to regularly review country-specific mandates, citing progress through national processes and dialogue.


Sri Lanka’s UN representative in Geneva, Ambassador Sumith Dassanayake, called for clear objectives, measurable outcomes and provisions to phase out mandates where appropriate.


He also noted that several countries had commended Sri Lanka’s progress in promoting and protecting human rights.
