Showers or thundershowers are expected in most parts of the island after 1.00 p.m. today (9), the Department of Meteorology stated.

Rainfall exceeding 75 mm is likely in some areas of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, North-Western and Southern provinces, as well as the Anuradhapura and Mannar districts.

The public has been advised to take precautions against temporary localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Misty conditions are also expected in some areas of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts during the early morning.
