The Attorney General stated that the Colombo Magistrate’s Court and Colombo High Court have issued orders preventing the directors of the local agent company of the MV X-Press Pearl from leaving the country.

Additional Solicitor General Nerin Pulle made the declaration in the Supreme Court during Fundamental Rights petitions regarding the vessel incident.

The Singapore-flagged container vessel caught fire in May 2021 off Colombo Port while carrying hazardous chemicals, causing marine pollution and widespread environmental damage.
