The 48th National Games kicked off last weekend (15 and 16 June) in Mahiyanganaya, with the marathon, walking and cycling races witnessing a participation of top athletes from around the country.
Having been a part of Sri Lanka’s biggest marathons for over 35 years, Nestlé Nestomalt was proud to have jointly organised the games this year with the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs.
Results of the cycling race on 16 June as follows:
Cycling (men):
First place: L.S. Chomod De Silva
Second place: S.A.S. Deemantha
Third place: H.M.S. Pinto
Cycling (women):
First place: W.A.A. Sandamini
Second place: A.M.D. Dilrukshi
Third place: U.N. Kumarasinghe
The winners of the cycling marathon were awarded cash prizes, with first-place receiving Rs. 50,000, second place receiving Rs. 40,000 and third place receiving Rs. 30,000. Furthermore, the athletes who finished among the top 10 were also awarded with special cash prizes.
