A police constable attached to Peliyagoda Police has been arrested for allegedly accepting a Rs. 200,000 bribe.

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) stated the bribe was solicited to release a drug suspect without legal action.

Another constable who fled during the raid was later arrested.

The suspect was produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court and remanded until 12 May.
