Opposition and Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Leader Sajith Premadasa and his wife Jalani last week celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary, which fell on Tuesday (23).

It is learnt that many friends and family had proposed grand celebrations to mark the special occasion. However, Premadasa and Jalani had said that they preferred to engage in religious observances in Kandy instead.

Accordingly, arrangements had been made for religious observances and an almsgiving at the Dalada Maligawa in Kandy on Tuesday. 

However, due to work commitments, Premadasa had not been able to join Jalani in the religious observances in Kandy. Jalani had engaged in the religious activity and almsgiving with family members.

Premadasa met Jalani in 1997 during religious observances to mark the death anniversary of the late President R. Premadasa. The duo tied the knot on 23 July 1999.
