New cricket selection committee headed by Upul Tharanga to be appointed

Sports Minister Harin Fernando Speaking in Parliament on Monday (4) said that a decision has been taken to appoint a new selection committee for Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) chaired by former Sri Lankan cricketer Upul Tharanga.

It is also reported that Tharanga will be joined by former opening batter Tharanga Paranavitana and former mystery spinner Ajantha Mendis in the selection committee. 

Ex-cricketer Pramodya Wickramasinghe serves as Chairman of the existing selection committee of Sri Lanka Cricket, which was appointed in April 2021 by then Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa.

The committee members currently include Romesh Kaluwitharana, Hemantha Wickramaratne, Varuna Waragoda, S.H.U. Karnain and B.A. Thilaka Nilmini Gunaratne.
