Construction of a new Accident and Emergency Treatment Unit at Mannar District General Hospital began today (16) under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

The Rs. 600 million project is being funded through a grant from the Government of India.

The new unit will expand healthcare services in Mannar and include modern medical facilities.

Construction is scheduled to be completed in the first quarter of 2028.
