The Agricultural and Agrarian Insurance Board has introduced a new insurance scheme for fishermen engaged in diving activities.
The scheme operates under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation.
It provides Rs. 1.2 million compensation to beneficiaries in the event of death while engaged in diving related to the fishing industry.
Coverage is also provided for temporary disabilities caused by accidents during sea or inland diving.
Insurance plans of Rs. 1.2 million and Rs. 1.5 million are available, with an annual premium of Rs. 1,920.
