The Department of Meteorology says showers are expected today (30) in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North Western provinces, and the Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.

Rainfall exceeding 50 mm is likely in some areas.

Showers or thundershowers may develop in the Uva Province and the Ampara and Batticaloa districts after 2.00 p.m., while winds of 40–50 km/h are expected in several parts of the island.

The public has been advised to take precautions against strong winds and lightning.
