The Colombo High Court today (14) rejected a preliminary objection raised by the defence in the money laundering case filed against Yoshitha Rajapaksa under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

Colombo High Court Judge Udesh Ranatunga ruled that there was no legal impediment to proceeding with the charges.

Following the ruling, the indictment was read in open court and Yoshitha Rajapaksa pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The trial has now officially commenced before the Colombo High Court.
