A majority of local government ministers in the Monaragala area wish to support Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) candidate Namal Rajapaksa, MP Shaheendra Rajapaksa claimed earlier this week.

He made the comments following a discussion with former local council members in Monaragala District.

Minister of State for Irrigation and Water Supply Shashindra Rajapaksa who briefed the group stressed that Namal Rajapaksa is running on behalf of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna in the upcoming Presidential Election, arguing that it was the only way to save the SLPP. “There is no doubt that Namal Rajapaksa will get the support of a majority of the present members of the local council,” the State Minister opined.
