Police have raided an illegal television transmission station in Mount Lavinia and arrested one suspect.

The operation was carried out on Attidiya Road by the Mount Lavinia Divisional Crimes Investigation Division with the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL).

A 55-year-old Maldivian national was arrested, and equipment worth around Rs. 10mn was seized.

Authorities said the station was operating using unauthorised communication equipment.

Further investigations are underway.
