Ground frost was reported in several areas of Nuwara Eliya this morning (24) due to cold weather conditions.

The Department of Meteorology said the lowest temperature in the island was recorded in Nuwara Eliya at 7.8°C.

Dense fog in the western slopes of the central hills has disrupted daily activities and traffic, especially along the Hatton–Nuwara Eliya and Hatton–Colombo roads.

Hatton Police have advised motorists to drive cautiously, reduce speed, and use headlights.
