The Vice-Chancellor of Sabaragamuwa University, Prof. Sunil Shantha, has appointed a 3-member committee to investigate the death of 23-year-old Charith Dilshan, a second-year Engineering Technology student.
The committee is chaired by Senior Prof. A.A.Y. Amarasinghe, with Prof. Kapila Rathnayaka and Attorney Y.S. Chandrasekara also serving on the panel.
The move follows a complaint lodged at Samanalawewa Police, alleging the student died by suicide due to ragging.
The university has urged the committee to submit findings without delay, while the CID continues its own investigations.
