Dasun Shanaka has been named captain of the Sri Lankan team for the ongoing T20 International (T20I) tri-series in Pakistan, replacing Charith Asalanka, who is returning home due to illness.

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) confirmed that Asalanka and fast bowler Asitha Fernando, also ill, will return for medical care before future assignments. Pavan Rathnayake has been added to the squad as a replacement.

The tri-series, which also involves the host nation and Zimbabwe, is being played entirely in Rawalpindi following recent security concerns. 

The Pakistan military is providing security for the team.
