The Cabinet has approved the publication of the Mediation (Civil and Commercial Disputes) Bill in the Government Gazette and its submission to Parliament.

The new legislation is intended to repeal the ineffective Commercial Mediation Centre Act, No. 44 of 2000, and set minimum standards for commercial mediation practices.

It will also enable enforcement of mediated settlements through the courts, addressing long-standing gaps in the dispute resolution framework.
