A Parliamentary Select Committee will summon representatives of Pradeshiya Sabhas and Municipal Councils to examine how local authorities coordinated their response to Cyclone Ditwah.

The Committee will investigate official communication, coordination and emergency response procedures during the heavy rainfall, landslides and flooding reported in Kandy and Matale districts from 23 to 27 November 2025.

The Committee also discussed improving early warning systems, introducing written emergency procedures and conducting regular disaster preparedness drills.
