The Department of Meteorology has issued an ‘Amber’ advisory warning of severe lightning across several provinces.

The advisory, issued today (22), covers Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Western, North-Central, Southern and Uva provinces, along with Ampara and Batticaloa districts.

It will remain in effect until 11.30 p.m.

Authorities warned of thundershowers with severe lightning and temporary strong winds after 1.00 p.m., urging the public to take necessary precautions.
