The Department of Meteorology has issued a heat advisory covering the Northern, Eastern, and North-central provinces, along with the Monaragala and Hambantota districts.

Twelve districts are under an amber alert, with warnings that the heat index — how hot it feels to the human body — may reach the ‘Caution level’ by tomorrow (31).

Officials have advised the public to limit extended outdoor activity, as prolonged exposure could lead to fatigue and, in some cases, heat cramps.

Residents in the affected areas are urged to stay hydrated and take necessary precautions to avoid heat-related health risks.
