Sri Lankan javelin thrower Rumesh Tharanga has reported that all five of his personal javelins were damaged during his return journey from Hungary.

The equipment included the javelin used for his 91.09-metre winning throw at the World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest, as well as another used for his 92.07-metre throw in Zurich.

Tharanga had planned to use the javelins at future major competitions, including the 2028 Olympics, and preserve them after his career.

He has lodged a formal complaint against the airline at Bandaranaike International Airport.
