The sacred Devnimori relics of Lord Buddha arrived in Sri Lanka today, marking a historic moment for Buddhists across the island.

The Indian aircraft carrying the revered relics landed at Bandaranaike International Airport at around 1.00 p.m.

Facilitated by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the support of the Government of India, the rare exposition will commence today at the Gangaramaya Temple in Colombo under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

Discovered in the 1960s in Gujarat, the Devnimori relics are being taken outside India for the first time and will be on public exposition from 5 to 11 February.
