The Cabinet has approved a proposal to revise Sri Lanka’s National Housing Policy to better address current housing and settlement needs, according to official sources.
The policy revision will be carried out under the framework of the government’s “A Comfortable Home – A Healthy Life” initiative, outlined in the “A Thriving Nation – A Beautiful Life” policy programme.
The Ministry of Housing, Construction and Water Supply stated that the updated policy will focus on improving access to quality housing and infrastructure, particularly for low-income communities.
The revised policy will take into account developments since the last update in 2019, along with emerging global housing trends, and will be developed by a panel of experts.
