Sri Lanka recorded a total of 1,567,007 tourist arrivals in the country between 1 January and 6 September 2026, according to a recent report issued by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA). 

Meanwhile, the SLTDA reported that 31,885 tourists arrived in Sri Lanka between 1 and 6 September.

Indian nationals topped the number of tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka so far this year, with 395,377 visitors, following 152,625 tourists arrivals from the United Kingdom (UK), while 102,473 arrivals from China and 91,763 from Germany.

Additionally, Indian nationals recorded the highest number of tourist arrivals during the first six days of September, with 9,897 visitors.
