The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) conducted a raid on 26 March targeting a large-scale operation involved in the illegal sale of counterfeit medicines falsely claiming to be from the Sri Lanka Ayurvedic Drugs Corporation.
The raid was initiated following a formal complaint from the official corporation.
During the operation, authorities raided an establishment located in the Mawanella–Hingula area, where they seized medicines manufactured by the fraudulent operation.
Investigations revealed that the suspects had illegally used the name and the national emblem of the Sri Lanka Ayurvedic Drugs Corporation to promote and sell fake products as authentic.
The CAA announced that legal action is currently being taken against those involved in this illicit activity to curb the distribution of counterfeit medicines and protect public health.
