The Department of Meteorology has issued a red-level warning for strong winds and rough seas in the Bay of Bengal, advising multi-day fishing boats and naval communities to avoid affected deep-sea areas.

A low-pressure area near the North Andaman Islands is expected to intensify into a depression by 24 October, a deep depression by 25 October and a cyclonic storm by the morning of 26 October.

Authorities have urged fishing and naval communities to avoid the sea area between 10°N–20°N and 80°E–95°E until further notice. Those already operating in the area have been advised to move to safe locations and closely monitor weather updates.
