Security forces have uncovered a large-scale cannabis cultivation in the Haldummulla area following intelligence received by the Army Intelligence Unit, police stated. 

The raid was carried out on 26 December in coordination with the Bandarawela Divisional Criminal Intelligence Unit. 

Searches in the Aluthwela and Unakanda reserve forests led to the seizure of more than 320,000 cannabis plants grown across about six acres. 

Police noted that the haul is estimated to be worth nearly Rs. 80 million. 

Further legal action is being conducted by the Bandarawela Divisional Intelligence Unit.
