Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Hansaka Wijemuni stated that a revised Mental Health Act will be introduced in Sri Lanka in the near future.

He made the remarks at the 100th anniversary celebrations of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH).

Dr. Wijemuni noted that the current Act is nearly 100 years old and needs updating.

He stated that an initial draft has already been submitted to Parliament and the Cabinet, and will later be opened for public opinion.
