Bus operators confirmed that fares will not be revised despite the recent fuel price increase.
Lanka Private Bus Owners’ Association Chairman Gemunu Wijeratne stated operators are absorbing the cost as there is no legal provision for an immediate fare hike.
He noted that short-distance services incur losses of about Rs. 500 per day, while long-distance services face around Rs. 1,500 in daily losses.
The annual fare revision is scheduled for 1 July, he stated.
