France’s Henri Kagan and Japan’s Kenso Soai have won the 2026 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for research into molecules’ mirror images, which has been decisive for the development of pharmaceuticals.

They were honoured for the discovery of non-linear effects and autocatalysis in asymmetric organic synthesis.

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences announced the winners in Stockholm today (7).
