A parliamentary subcommittee has been appointed to investigate the environmental impact of the Lakvijaya Power Plant in Norochcholai.

According to the Department of Communications of Parliament, the subcommittee will be chaired by MP Bhagya Sri Herath.

The decision was taken during a meeting of the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Environment, Agriculture and Resource Sustainability chaired by MP Hector Appuhamy.

Officials from several ministries participated in discussions on the environmental effects of the power plant and institutional responsibilities related to the issue.
