One person has died and ten others were injured after a private bus travelling from Colombo to Mannar crashed into a roadside tree this morning (22) on the Mannar-Medawachchiya main road.

Police reported the driver lost control of the vehicle between the 35km and 36km posts.

The deceased was identified as a twenty-nine-year-old from Murunkan, Asikulam. 

Eight males and two females, including the driver, were admitted to the Mannar and Vavuniya hospitals. 

Parayanalankulam Police are investigating the incident.
