The Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court has ordered the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to submit a progress report on the investigation into the alleged misappropriation of $2.5mn in government funds held by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL).

The CID told court that 16 terabytes of digital evidence had been sent to the University of Colombo for analysis, while Government Analyst reports are still pending.

The court directed the CID to report the progress of the investigation on 5 August.
