The Department of Meteorology has issued an Amber advisory for strong winds in the Northern, North-central and North-western provinces, and the Matale, Hambantota and Trincomalee districts.

The advisory is in effect until 11.00 a.m. tomorrow (16), with 40–50 kmph winds expected at times due to active south-west monsoonal conditions. The public has been urged to remain vigilant and follow further weather advisories.
