The Sri Lanka Railway Station Masters' Association (SLRSMU) has warned that train operations could be at risk due to the declining number of operational locomotives and power sets.
The Association said the number of operational locomotives has dropped from 68 in 2023 to 49, while operational power sets have fallen from 78 to 52, creating shortages that could affect the current train timetable.
The SLRSMU urged authorities to take immediate action to address the issue and prevent disruptions to railway services.
