- Sun Siyam Pasikudah reopens
Sun Siyam Pasikudah, nestled on Sri Lanka’s unspoiled eastern coastline, recently unveiled its transformed five-star retreat. The hotel’s reopening on 17 November was celebrated at an event held on 22 November at Virtical by Jetwing, attended by esteemed travel partners and distinguished VIPs, including former Member of Parliament Daya Gamage and Eastern Province Governor Senthil Thondaman.
Sun Siyam Resorts Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Deepak Booneady set the tone with an opening welcome speech. “Sun Siyam Pasikudah is not just a retreat; it’s a testament to our unwavering commitment to Sri Lanka’s beauty and its journey. We’ve transformed this property into a haven that mirrors the vibrant coastline of Pasikudah,” said Booneady. Sun Siyam Pasikudah General Manager Arshed Refai and Sales and Marketing Manager Dulanka De Mel added welcoming words and an insightful resort presentation, respectively.
A journey of transformation
Originally launched as Sun Aqua Pasikudah in 2014, the property underwent a rebranding in 2020, joining the prestigious Sun Siyam Resorts collection and adopting the name Sun Siyam Pasikudah. This reopening signifies a new chapter in the resort’s dedication to offering unforgettable experiences rooted in the beauty of Sri Lanka.
“The design philosophy for this incredible project was to create a boutique 5-star interior with bold monochromatic interiors balanced with rich golden tones,” said Lee McNichol and Jose Rivero, founders and creative directors at Studio Sixty7, who were pivotal in the interior design revamp.
Exquisite experiences await
With 34 spacious and contemporary pavilions, Sun Siyam Pasikudah promises an exclusive coastal experience and culinary delights abound, with options like The Cellar, Sri Lanka’s largest wine cellar on the eastern coast, the Tea House, offering a vast tea collection, the Slice and Grill, a fast-casual poolside dining concept, and the Beach Shack, a tropical beverage paradise with Caribbean vibes.
“As a part of Sun Siyam Resorts, our dedication goes beyond providing luxury–it’s about curating moments that linger in the hearts of our guests, creating memories deeply rooted in the cultural tapestry of Sri Lanka,” noted Arshed Refai.
Guests can uncover the wonders of Sri Lanka, from underwater exploration off the pristine Pasikudah coast to thrilling water activities like jet-skiing, kayaking, and tube rides. For romance seekers, serene sailing excursions and private dining under the stars are on offer. Adventure enthusiasts can partake in day-long safaris to iconic destinations like Sigiriya Rock and Minneriya National Park.

Sun Siyam Pasikudah isn’t just a vacation; it’s a grand adventure, a cultural odyssey, and an oasis of tranquillity. Here, guests experience the true essence of affordable luxury and embrace the beauty of this culturally rich destination.
