WhatsApp is testing a new privacy feature that allows users to create unique usernames instead of sharing phone numbers. 

Currently in beta, the update will let people chat and join groups using usernames similar to platforms like Instagram and Telegram offering more privacy, especially in large groups and business conversations.

Leaked screenshots reveal a new “Username” option in user profiles, enabling users to select unique handles.
